A Spring & Summer Shopping Guide For The Fashionista!
Even if you live in the warmest of climates, chances are you’ve experienced some pretty blistering cold weather this winter. Here in NYC, we’ve had our fair share of snow and I for one am more than ready for a change of season. Lucky for us all, spring is right around the corner. As you tuck away your winter gear, we’ve got the scoop on spring and summer ’14 must-haves. One of the great things about living in the bustling action of the concrete jungle is New York Fashion Week! Two times a year, the creamiest of the crop designers gather and showcase their collections, granting us a sneak peak of what’s hot for the season to come. Last September was the preview of what to expect this spring and summer, and lucky for you, I took notes. As you get ready to get your shop on, consider this a shopping guide! And don’t get too caught up on spending your hard earned paper on the top designers either—unless you just got it like that. For the bargain fashionista, these trends will be everywhere from upscale retailers to pocket-friendly ones, like H&M, Zara and Target!
Pastels & Brights: Pantone, the authority on color, does a fashion color report each season. This spring the authorities declare a mix of pretty pastels and vibrant brights. Violet tulip, placid blue, cayenne and freesia are a few it-colors you can start adding to your wardrobe! Photo credit: Pantone.com Crop Tops: If you start now, you can get that tummy tight and right so you can rock your crop tops. Diane von Furstenberg and BCBG Max Azria were among the many sending their models down the runway bare midriff. White Wide-Legs: I’m especially excited about this trend because it’s very chic and forgiving, whether you’re lean or voluptuous. Calvin Klein, Reed Krakoff and Derek Lam all shared their take on white wide-leg pants. Pair them with a crop top or fitted tank and accessorize with metallics for a sizzling night on the town! Feminine Florals: Who doesn’t love a good floral print? They make you feel extra feminine and summery, and thanks to some of your favorite designers, it’s a go-to trend for the upcoming season. Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors and Dennis Basso celebrate the season with blooming garments!
